Back to the Future
This month we are meeting in person AND on Zoom. We are going to do a trial run, and our wonderful speaker has agreed to be our test case. So, please plan on joining us for our August meeting either in person or online. Remember, the date has changed to the 25th to accommodate our speaker. And special thanks to members Carolyn Morris, Deb Roth, Nancy Conklin and Barb Pond for helping to get the streaming set up. Fingers crossed this turns into the new normal!
And we are doing some more exciting things in the guild! Although we typically have a raffle quilt as our main fundraiser (outside of membership dues), we tested out an online auction last year, and plan on continuing it again this fall. Please help us beat our goal of last year by sharing the auction with your friends, consider donating an item or two for the auction, or participate yourself. The online auction is planned for mid-October, which should be perfectly poised to start your holiday shopping.
We are also closing in on back-to-school time - and that is a perfect time to remember our charity quilt partner, Children’s Hospital. Consider making a quilt to share with the kiddos - fun and bright colors and patterns to help brighten their day. I have posted a cute butterfly pattern on the ACQ Community Facebook page for anyone who is looking for a great scrap-busting project. If you’d like to help out, but don’t have the time to make an entire quilt - perhaps you have some time to make a few butterfly blocks. Remember, quilts for Children’s Hospital can have flannel on one side - but not both. This is to make sure that the quilts are not too hot.
Looking forward to seeing all of you at the August meeting!
