Quilts of Illusions


Explore the world of optical illusions with Karen as she shows you some of the wonderful quilts that she has created and shares tricks and tips how to make them. This virtual lecture is a beautiful and inspiring trunk show. There will be time for questions after the lecture.


Karen is a quilter, author, teacher and designer who is known for her quilts of illusions. Teaching since 1989, she is in high demand as a teacher who encourages her students, makes learning fun and makes the complex easy to understand!

Karen has been nominated as Quilt Teacher of the Year by students in 1995, 2000 & 2005. Her work has been displayed at quilt shows and art galleries across the country. Being a prolific designer and author; Karen has published articles and patterns in many magazines such as Traditional Quilter, American Quilter and Quilter's Newsletter Magazine. She has been designing fabrics since 2001.

She is the author of 10 books, among them: Optical Illusions for Quilters, Combing Through Your Scraps, Floral Illusions, 3 Quilters Celebrate the 4 Seasons. (AQS) and 3-D Fun with Pandora's Box. Celtic Pieced Illusions (AQS) and Lone Star Illusions.

In addition, Karen has appeared on the TV program, “Quilting from the Heartland, hosted by Sharlene Jorgenson, Series 700, program 711, Simply Quilts, Show 411, Quilt Central and American Quilter. In 2015, she became part of the faculty of Craftsy, in their online learning website.

The Zoom meeting room will open at 6:15 and the meeting will begin at 6:30 MDT. Guests are also welcome to attend this meeting free—please register ahead of time. Please ensure that you know how to use Zoom prior to the meeting. The link will come by email when you register.
